Breakfast and Learning

It’s no secret that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Breakfast provides the necessary nutrition needed to get your child through their school day and extra-curricular activities. It has been proven that children who eat breakfast

  • Concentrate better
  • Are more alert
  • Have more energy
  • Learn more and miss fewer school days due to illness
  • Have fewer nurse’s visits
  • Have reduced tardiness
  • Have higher test scores

Unfortunately, many children are not eating breakfast at home and come to school hungry.

There are many different reasons as to why children do not eat breakfast- whether there is little time, little money or lack of hunger when they first wake up. Because so many children are coming to school without eating the most vital meal of the day, the School Breakfast Program has become a priority in many schools. The School Breakfast Program provides the opportunity for all students to eat a well-balanced breakfast on a daily basis.
