Breakfast and Learning
"Breakfast is the most important meal of the day." Ever wonder why everyone keeps telling you that?
When you wake up in the morning, you haven’t fed your body since you went to sleep. That could be 10 hours without any food! To get through your school day and after school activities, you need to eat breakfast to fuel your body for the day ahead of you.
Let’s talk about what happens when you don’t eat breakfast. Kids who skip breakfast:
- Have harder times concentrating
- Are less alert
- Have less energy
- Get sick easier
- Have lower test scores
- Are more likely to eat unhealthy foods later in the day
- Get less iron (an important nutrient) in their diets
As you see, it is very important to make sure you eat breakfast every day. So tomorrow, make sure you fuel your body with a nutritious breakfast!
